A day in the life:

As a Stage Door School of Dance teacher, you’ll do many things: help dancers grow in technique and artistry, communicate with dancers and families about progress, leading with positivity and encouragement, work with your coach on ways to strengthen your teaching practice, attend bi-monthly staff meetings and an annual full day workshop, attend classes with the professionals of your choice, choreograph for both classroom and end-of year performances, and wear several hats at our exciting dance recital (#bestshowever). At SDSD, we embrace a strong work ethic while also prioritizing work-life balance. We highly value our teachers living their best lives!

Are you someone who…

  1. Is a “people person” and comfortable with all aspects of the dance studio cycle, from teaching children, communicating with parents, working with a coach to continuously improve teaching practice, choreography, presenting to families during showcases and stepping up for just about anything needed for our recital?
  2. Is great at working in collaboration with others?
  3. Has experience as a dance teacher? (5 or more years preferred, but not required)
  4. Is patient, outgoing, and has an upbeat personality?
  5. Thrives on continuous growth, embracing both dance-related and personal development?
  6. Has effective, proactive classroom management skills and the willingness to grow within our culture?
  7. Shows up prepared and with a professional dance teacher aesthetic?
  8. Is organized, professional and can commit to at least a year of employment?
  9. Has experience in the following programs or the willingness to learn how to use: Slack, GarageBand, and Google Calendar

Availability and Interest:

  1. We are seeking teachers who can work a part-time schedule, within our main hours of operation: Weekdays 4-10pm, Saturdays 8:30-2:30
  2. During our interviews, we’re excited to explore candidates across different dance styles and levels. We’d love to hear about your experience and passion for any or all of the following areas:
  3. Acro teacher/assistant (with opportunities for extended Professional Learning)
  4. Preschool Dance
  5. Children’s Yoga
  6. Competitive Dance Programming, beginners through advanced
  7. Recreational Dance Programming, beginners through advanced

Preferred but not required:

  1. A B.S. or B.A. in Education (especially Early Childhood Education) is a plus, but not required.
  2. A B.S, B.A. or B.F.A in Dance, Arts for Children
  3. 5 years teaching experience (Preferred)

    SDSD Influencer Application:

    Are you a vibrant, on-camera personality with a passion for dance and social media? Stage Door School of Dance is on the lookout for a dynamic Social Media Influencer with a dance background to continue to grow our already popular social media presence. 

    About this position: 

    • In this unique and multifaceted position, you’ll be one of the creative geniuses behind our engaging social media content, crafting Instagram Reels and TikToks that capture the heart of dance and our studio’s vibrant community. Under the direction of our Director, Branding and Communications, you’ll have the freedom to develop and manage content that showcases our classes, events, and the unique stories of our students and faculty, all while promoting the joy and benefits of dance education.
    • Your talents in dance and education are essential, as you’ll also have the opportunity to step in as an on-call teaching substitute, enriching the lives of our students with your expertise. Your role extends to being the life of our birthday parties, a friendly face at the front desk, and an integral part of our store team.

    Schedule:

    • On-site at the studio Monday-Thursday 4pm-10pm, Friday 4pm-9pm, occasional Tuesday/Wednesday 9am-1pm, Saturday 8:30am-1pm, and mandatory attendance at all SDSD events including performances, recitals, festivals, and competitions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Create 1-2 engaging and educational Instagram Reels and TikTok videos daily (6 days a week) showcasing our classes, events, expertise, students, values, benefits, and faculty
    • Highlight the benefits of dance classes and promote the inclusive, family-oriented atmosphere of our studio
    • Assist at the front desk / studio store and serve as an on-call substitute dance instructor
    • Collaborate closely with the Studio Owner, Director of Branding and Communications, Director of Operations, and Operations Manager
    • Attend, create content, and assist at all on-location events and performances, capturing the essence of our studio’s participation and culture
    • Host Birthday Parties and Drop-Off events.
    • Become a Day Camp Director

    Performance Metrics:

    • Follower growth on social media platforms
    • Reach and view counts of social media content
    • Contribution to enrollment growth in the studio

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Formal dance education with over 5 years dance training. Competitive dance background a plus.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a children’s dance instructor
    • Proven track record of creating engaging content on TikTok and Instagram, with an established or growing following. (Expected to provide strong examples of past content.)
    • On-camera experience and comfort
    • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively within a team
    • Flexibility to adapt to varying work hours and event schedules
