May 2026
May is a magical month where everything comes together for our dancers, and you can feel it the moment you step into the studio! Last week our dancers shared their recital routines with other classes for the first time. I could see how hard they have been working, and I caught those genuine smiles of pride breaking through – the kind that only show up when a dancer realizes just how far they have come!
April 2026
April is here, and we are moving steadily toward our June recital, Best Show Ever. It was such a joy to welcome so many of you into the studio for Grown-Up Observation Week. Seeing the dancers through your eyes made their progress all the more clear.
March 2026
March is here and spring is finally on the way. Hooray! The clocks change this month and we are more than ready to say goodbye to winter.
February 2026
February is here, and we’re kicking off the month of love with two special celebrations: Bring a Bestie and Kindness Week! It’s the perfect time to honor our shared love of dance.

Happy New Year! We are so glad to welcome everyone back to the studio and to begin the second half of our dance season together.
December 2025
What a wonderful experience we had marching in this year’s Patchogue Holiday Parade! This year’s theme brought back memories of 2002, when Ms. Jessica and Ms. Stephanie were among the many young SDSD dancers who represented Patchogue along 5th Avenue in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Marching down Main Street each year in our hometown remains equally special – it’s our opportunity to give back to the community that has embraced our Stage Door family for 50 years, and counting.
November 2025
November is a wonderful month at Stage Door, full of creativity, connection, and giving. From our monthly giveaway and a week of dancers in costumes to our Thanksgiving Food Drive, there are so many ways to celebrate and share the joy of dance. Later in the month, we’ll honor our grown-ups, pause for Thanksgiving break, and wrap up with the festive Patchogue Holiday Parade – a perfect time to enjoy the season together.

What a joy it was to meet your besties during our special “Bring a Bestie” week! Watching your dancers light up as they shared their passion with their closest friends and family reminded me why our Stage Door family is so special.

Stage Door’s 50th season is finally here! What an amazing milestone we get to celebrate together. For 50 years, dancers have come through our doors to grow in confidence, artistry, and community – and this year we’re celebrating all of that while getting excited for what’s ahead. My parents started Stage Door School of Dance in 1975 with big dreams of what a dance studio could bring to our local community. We’re still here continuing what they built, and it means everything to be part of so many families’ stories.

As we settle into the heart of summer, I find myself continually amazed by the energy and growth happening in our studios during this second half of our Summer Session. The joy on our dancers’ faces as they learn new combinations and build lasting friendships has been absolutely wonderful to witness. There’s something magical about summer dancing. The relaxed atmosphere mixed with focused learning creates such beautiful moments.

As summer has set in, it’s now been several weeks of excitedly reflecting on our recent recital and I’m just filled with so much gratitude. What an unforgettable way to close out our season. From the energy on stage to the joy in the audience, Defy Gravity was one of the most remarkable performances in our history. Thank you to every dancer, grown-up, and supporter who made it all possible.

The studios are filled with the rhythm of recital choreography coming to life, and every class is a testament to the dedication and passion of our dancers. Walking through the halls, I see determination, progress, and the joy of movement—reminders that dance, much like love, is about connection, expression, and the journey we take together.

Happy New Year! The quiet studios during winter break have me eager to hear music and tap shoes filling our halls again, as well as seeing all your smiling faces back in class next week. While the dance studios have been still, my heart is full knowing our Stage Door community will soon be reunited, ready to start bringing our 2025 recital to life!

As twinkling lights adorn our studios this December, I’m filled with joy watching our dancers grow and flourish. During this year’s Patchogue Holiday Parade preparations, I witnessed something that warmed my heart – our SDSD Elite Company dancers huddled around our youngest SDSD Select dancers, straightening costume pieces, giving advice to help shake nerves, and offering lots of hugs before they all stepped out onto Main Street together. Watching them dance down the parade route as one united team, from our tiniest dancers to our graduating seniors, reminded me why our Stage Door community is so extraordinary.

As November’s crisp air settles in, I find myself reflecting on the beautiful moments of connection I witness daily in our studios. Just yesterday, I watched one of our youngest dancers finally accomplish a step she’d been working on for weeks – the joy in her eyes reminded me exactly why we’ve dedicated our lives to sharing our passion for dance with the next generations of artists.

Spring has sprung and wow, what an incredible vibe we’ve had at the studio lately, that I hope you all are feeling too!! I wanted to personally send a big thanks to every parent, guardian, and awesome grown-up who dropped by the studio during Parent Observation Week. Seeing you all in the studio, filled with pride for your dancers, is an absolute energy boost that doesn’t just light up your dancer’s faces; it amps up the electric energy of the whole studio. As studio owner, I am thrilled to share all of the exciting developments as we make our way toward our annual SDSD Recital, ‘In My Dance Era’, on June 8 and 9 at the Staller Center for the Arts on the Stony Brook University Campus. Happy Spring, everyone! We are so excited to announce that Stage Door School of Dance will now be offering Synchronized Swimming classes! Bet you didn’t know we had a swimming pool under the Village Dance floor. APRIL FOOLS!!! (But wouldn’t that be awesome?!)

I am thrilled to welcome March 2023, as this means all of our teachers and staff are really kick-ball-changing into preparations for our upcoming recital, “Mission: Beyond Dance”. For the first time ever, our entire studio helped us decide our recital theme and we couldn’t be more #SDSDproud of what we ALL came up with. Our recital excitement is building and we hope you are feeling the same! We look forward to gathering at the Staller Center for the Arts, located at Stony Brook University, on June 10th and 11th for our annual celebration of dance and, of course, can’t wait to see you all there!

Brrrrrrr! It’s cold in here. There must be some #StageDoorDancer holiday cheer in the atmosphere! Thank you to all who came out to cheer on our SDSD Elite Company and SDSD Select Program dancers as they tapped their way down Patchogue’s Main Street for the 60th annual Patchogue Holiday Parade! If you were there, you know how absolutely spectacular the evening was. So spectacular, we took home the trophy for MOST HOLIDAY SPIRIT!

It’s officially summer here at Stage Door School of Dance, and summer classes begin today, July 11! I’d like to start by thanking all of our SDSD dancers, teachers, staff. families, and friends for yet another incredible performance at our June Recital ‘There’s No Place Like Home’! Every year, I am blown away by the performances and the pure joy our dancers bring to the stage. After several years away from Staller Center, to see our dancer’s hit the spotlight and deliver some of the best performances we have ever seen is nothing short of inspiring. Thank you!!!

We made it, friends; happy June! As we bring our 2021-2022 dance season to a close here at the studio, I find this time to be perfect to reflect on all the incredible people and experiences this past year has brought us here at Stage Door School of Dance. How much our students have grown this year as dancers, artists, and people. How wonderful it has been to welcome so many new families and dancers to our studio. How beautiful all the new choreography our teachers have created is. June officially brings us all incredible amounts of joy, and reminds us of just how much we appreciate our time with you.
