National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA)
Mission:
- To recognize outstanding artistic merit, leadership and academic achievement in students studying dance in public and private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural/community centers, performing arts organizations, and colleges/ universities.
- To foster an appreciation for dance as a true art form and one worthy of recognition and prestige.
At Stage Door School of Dance, our core values guide us in cultivating an education that provides life lessons that go far beyond the dance curriculum. We believe that dancers should learn an appreciation for the arts and its benefits, as well as find opportunities for serving others. We are proud to recognize dancers who embody these concepts all while continuing to focus on their academic success.
All eligible dancers must submit a report card to prove GPA of at least 85% or higher.
To be assessed by Chapter Sponsor and Stage Door Faculty and Staff: Students must obtain a minimum rating of “Above Average” by all evaluators in the areas of:
- Dance class behavior
- Studio wide leadership
- Participation in service
- Participation in fundraisers
*Students must not display any conduct or behavior that jeopardizes their own safety, well-being of others or the integrity of the NHSDA program in or outside of the studio (these include, but are not limited to disruptive or aggressive behavior, bullying or mistreating others or unprofessional conduct in classes or rehearsals).
Who is eligible for induction:
Active students of Stage Door School of Dance who are in 11th or 12th grade.
*Students may begin collecting points in 9th and 10th grade
*Class of 2027 graduating seniors may use point earned in the 2025-2026 school year towards their induction requirements
It is important to know that in order to maintain the secondary chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts at Stage Door School of Dance, there will be annual fees for each active member. These fees will be charged in two annual installments.
Membership Fee: This fee will cover studio and member access to the National Dance Education Organization and its resources, membership meetings and administration fees.
Induction Fee: This fee will cover the cost of application to NHSDA, initial certificate, pin/cord and the induction event. Pins will be provided at the time of initial induction and cords will be given to active members at the time of graduation.
NHSDA Interest Meeting: Wednesday, October 24th 3:15-4:00pm
- Students should submit interest in NHSDA by completing Google Form for NHSDA initial application.
- Students will receive an email from wedance@stagedoordancer.com with confirmation of receipt.
- Attend the interest meeting on October 24th at 3:15pm
- Qualifying students will be enrolled in Stage Door class titled “NHSDA”.
- A google folder will be generated for keeping track of all necessary items collected. Within the google folder, there will be a spreadsheet that tracks all points as they are submitted and approved by Chapter Sponsor.
- Applicants should begin logging and submitting hours to the front desk.
