Kim Lavery is the  Director, Costumes, as well as Co-Manager, Studio Operations here at Stage Door School of Dance. Born and raised in Suffolk County, NY, she attended Seton Hall University in NJ, earning a BA in Communication, and later earned an MA in Communication Studies from Bowling Green State University in OH. Kim taught English and Public Speaking at several private high schools for 3 years, coached competitive forensics, and was a judge for Regional and National Debate tournaments. She has since transitioned to university instruction, teaching courses in Human Communication, Public Speaking, and Business Communication for the past 20 years. Kim has a background in dance, having practiced tap, Musical Theater Jazz, and Hip Hop in her youth and during her time on the college dance team. She has proudly been the Director, Costumes with Stage Door for 13 years, as well as 2 additional years working as part of the SDSD Administration team.  Kim enjoys her time with Stage Door as she gets to share her passion for dance and music with her husband and three daughters.
