A proud SDSD alumnus, Mary has been the owner of Stage Door School of Dance since 2012 after taking over ownership from her parents, Diane and James Giattino! She is honored to carry on the family tradition, everyday!
In addition to owning the studio, Mary has over 30 years of experience performing and providing choreography for theater, film, and TV with an extensive Broadway and TV career.
Mary is a former Radio City Rockette, and has performed on Broadway and the Broadway National Tours of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Billy Elliot: The Musical, 42nd Street, Lady Be Good, No No Nanette, and Of Thee I Sing.
Having assisted acclaimed Broadway choreographers such as Tony Award nominee Randy Skinner and Danny Mefford, Mary has served as the Associate Choreographer of the Broadway National Tour of Fun Home, the Associate Director/Choreographer of the National Tour of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Associate Choreographer, Resident Choreographer for the Broadway National Tour of Billy Elliot: The Musical. As a NYC Tap Dance expert, Mary was also the resident tap teacher for the original Broadway production of Billy Elliot: The Musical, training all youth cast members.
Her work has also found its way into your home, as she served as the Assistant Choreographer of the NBC Drama Rise, and AppleTV’s Dickenson.
Mary is also proud to say that she has choreographed Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, 42nd Street and Thoroughly Modern Millie, right here in Bellport / Patchogue at the Gateway Playhouse, in addition to performing in over 20 over their productions. She has performed for, worked with and/or had the pleasure to meet two Presidents, numerous Senators, and many celebrities during her on-going career. She is also a highly sought-after Dance Teacher & Choreographer who travels across the country to Universities and Studios spreading her passion for teaching and dance. Mary specializes in Musical Theater Tap and Jazz.
