Rachel Armitstead (she/her) has always loved the performing arts, and began studying dance at the early age of five. Rachel continued to pursue her love and passion for the performing arts in higher education and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Theatre with minors in English Writing and Dance. Rachel has worked professionally in the performing arts for over a decade and has had various titles including including company manager, teaching artist, and arts administrator. She is currently the Casting Director and Director of Education at The Gateway: Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County. Some of her favorite credits Clue (starring Sally Struthers), Evita, Jersey Boys (Long Island regional premiere), and Holiday Spectacular on Ice (starring Nancy Kerrigan). Other favorites that she has been the Assistant Casting Director for include The Wedding Singer, Young Frankenstein (starring John Bolton), Anything Goes (starring Sally Struthers and Andrea McArdle), The Bodyguard (featuring Michael Shenefelt), A Chorus Line (with original direction/choreography by Mitzi Hamilton), A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (with original direction/choreography by Peggy Hickey), and 42nd Street (with direction/choreography by Randy Skinner). In addition to working with creative professionals and performers, Rachel also enjoys teaching and coaching young performers. Her greatest and proudest achievement is her son, Bowie.
