The sooner a dancer begins their serious dance education journey, the more opportunity there is to grow into the absolute best dancer they have the capability to become.
Stage Door School of Dance is proud to introduce our SDSD Select Program, an invitation-only dance education program for dancers ages 5-9 who have displayed proven skill and commitment, and whom SDSD feels have the potential to become future Stage Door Elite Company members.
We begin observing our dancers as early as 4 years old, Dancers invited into the program must be recommend by two SDSD teachers.
More SDSD Select Program Information
- Dancers ages 5-9 years old who have displayed strong skill levels in each genre, a commitment to Stage Door School of Dance, and their dance education, as well as have been deemed to be able to face the challenge of a higher standard of learning.
- Dancers may only be invited to participate in this program by Stage Door School of Dance. There is no audition process.
- Dancers selected for the Select program, will be placed within one of two groupings based on age.
- Each group will participate in multiple local dance competitions, competing in the Tap and Jazz categories only.
- SDSD Select dancers will be enrolled in 5 mandatory classes per week.
- 4 Select Exclusive Classes
- Classes will be comprised of Select dancers only and not open to the public. Genres included are Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Leap & Turn.
- 1 elective class of choice
- Classes are selected from our public schedule and are not exclusive to Select dancers. Genres included are Modern, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Hip Hop, and Improv & Choreo.
- 4 Select Exclusive Classes
- Competition Small Group Program (duets, trios, quartets, quintets)
- Patchogue Holiday Parade
- Community Performances
- SDSD Faculty / Industry Professional Special Guest Workshops
- DOWNTOWN: Ages 5-7
- UPTOWN: Ages 7-9
